My Story In Music
My story began in Hungary, my native country where I grew up and lived until the year 2000. In the mid-80s, I first went to different dance clubs with friends to hangout and look at the girls. At that time, the music of those venues - disco, pop, funky and alternative music was just in the background. On the other hand, I got caught up in the gears of rock, punk and metal music. I started going to fringe underground places to hear hard core and punk, sometimes where skinheads hung out, sub cultures that were barely tolerated by the government at times.
When I was in the company of musicians, I took on a new interest with drumming. And by the 90s, I was touring in a metal band. I was in three different bands with the same music style from 1987 to 2000 with many live performances. For me, the biggest inspiration was my first band but the most well-known and most able to work together were the second and third bands. The last one were signed to the international record label Polygram.
I won't mention the names of the bands here, because I'm Dj Sandoors now and that image is maybe too shocking a difference from the performer I am today. However, you can find the bands through my name . After ten years of successful touring within Hungary, I made the fortunate move to the US in 2000, where I later became a legal resident.
The Era of EDM Production (2000-2007)
Since I had a basic sympathy and attraction to the Disco and later Techno culture of the 80s and 90s, I started to make my own original recordings. I didn't find metal and hard core bands in the area where I lived because of the difficult beginnings.
In those rocky first years in the US, I made a living doing jobs in Jacksonville and Key West, Florida, and in Savannah, Ga. In these cities, I mostly ran into blues and rock musicians and not metal musicians, and my minimal knowledge of the English language also was a factor. However, I am not the shy type, and my intense, perhaps complicated communicative energy also contributed to scaring off a couple of the more sophisticated musicians.
I got myself a djembe African drum to which I adapted my own rhythm into tribal rhythms.
Soon I got a drum machine and a portable recording studio and produced techno music combined with African drums. When I lived in New York City in 2001, I played at CBGB’s club where I performed my somewhat industrial underground music based on loop beats and noises along with bass plus African drums. I also played on the African drum a lot in the subway stations there and on the street to challenge myself.
When I came back to the South and anchored in Savannah, GA, I stayed there due to the stability I created with my livelihood. I married in 2006, and we have created a life together on a small farm north of Savannah.
Home production CD album ( Time to go )
All through this time, I bought a lot of trance music CDs before buying my first Mac computer in 2007. From 2002 I started to record and used a Korg Triton Workstation sampler and Yamaha analog synthesizer module. My music was trance-y techno with the added coloring of the djembe African drums.
For production, I used the synth sequencer and porta studio, recording without a computer.
My first DJ equipment was purchased in 2002, a Pioneer CDJ, that I used Between 2002 and 2006. I mostly mixed techno trance music in addition to my own music. opportunities
and I was inspired after visiting a couple of Miami ADM Dj festivals 2005-2006.
I was inspired after visiting a couple of Miami ADM Dj festivals 2005-2006, and when I discovered Beatport n 2007, I became more interested in house music. At this time, I gave out my own home-produced copy of my album on CD.
In recent years, a squeeze on finances caused me to pull back to build a basic studio, one where I could advance in terms of quality and production to, for example, the level of trend music that can be sold on the Beatport line.
In 2008, I separated my purchased DJ mixes from my own music productions. Between the years 2005 and 2010, I played occassionally in clubs and bars. In Savannah, I’ve played and Dj -s at Venus de Milo, The Jinx, El Rocko Lounge, The Sentient Bean, B & B Billiards and some home parties.
During the years from 2007 and 2012, I was inspired to start making documentary-style, inspirational, low-cost, DIY short films for YouTube. For a brief time, I filmed and edited a local host-led program that was broadcast by Fox TV in Savannah, one that put out six 30 minute segments.
From 2018 to 2021, I was invited to play drums in a band. This was a trio with a virtuoso heavy metal guitarist playing instrumental original compositions. It was a good period but mostly rehearsals and only two performance before the 2020-2022 shut down of clubs cut off our chance of playing live. When the lead guitarist moved to seek better opportunities in Atlanta, that was the end of this band.
In 2022, I started with the Dj activity again, but since I had sold the good Pioneer CDJ equipment, I bought a basic Hercules Dj controller to get back into joyful Dj mixing. My EV/PA system is of a good enough size to perform in not equipped clubs, but also at private events.
I am currently looking for venues to perform in as a Dj. For awhile, it seemed Savannah didn’t have too many opportunities to perform house or techno music, but that does seem to be changing. I see that the culture of people out in nightclubs is one more of rap, trap, hip hop, blues or jazz music.
Wish
My goal is to perform locally, building up references and then when possible, take the show to regional cities. I want to exchange good energy with people and give them a good release of energy with my productions.
